Director of "The Lord of the Rings" Peter Jackson reveals that Amazon asked for his assistance on "The Rings of Power" but ignored him
Peter Jackson, the filmmaker of The Lord of the Rings, was ghosted, yet he has no resentment.
The 60-year-old Academy Award-winning filmmaker said that the team behind Amazon's planned Lord of the Rings prequel series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, left him hanging after having early talks centered upon his joining the project.
In the interview, Jackson recalled that when [writer-producer Fran Walsh] and I were asked whether we wanted to be part, we replied, "That's a hard thing to answer without reading a screenplay."
The crew then pledged to give Jackson and Walsh the screenplays as soon as they were finished, the director said, but added, "The scripts were never delivered. That was the final sound I heard."
Jackson, who came in first place on Forbes' list of the highest-paid entertainers in 2022, said he had no animosity toward the project — "No complaints at all," he added — and even stated that he is eager to see the new series.
He declared, "I'll be watching it." "I'm not the kind of man who spreads hate. It's difficult enough to make movies."

Jackson's allegations were later addressed by Amazon Studios in a statement to THR. The response to the site adds, "In obtaining the rights for our program, we were compelled to maintain the series distinct and apart from the films." The one-minute short also introduced a number of new characters, including Robert Aramayo as Beldor, Markella Kavenagh as Tyra, Morfydd Clark as Galadriel, and Joseph Mawle as Oren.
The Rings of Power will take set in Middle-earth, as imagined by J.R.R. Tolkien, but the characters won't be those from the original Lord of the Rings trilogy because it will have a different plot than the well-known movies.

What's the plot of Amazon's Lord of the Rings series?
There will be many recognizable characters present. The foremost among these is Sauron, whose avarice, wickedness, and thirst for total dominion affected the course of the Second Age. We catch a glimpse of Elrond, lord of Imladris, a descendant of the Nmenorean kings and the main figurehead of the Last Alliance between elves and humans, in the first teaser trailer. Charlie Vickers, who portrays the role, recalled their momentous encounter as follows: "If he hadn't met her, there's a chance that his life may not have continued. That intrigues me, I suppose. They are each other's only hope of survival at the time of their initial encounter. It's as though he would still be on this raft in the middle of the Sundering Seas if he hadn't met her. So, in my opinion, Hal is given access to this entire universe and is forced to reevaluate a lot of his history. It also prompts him to reevaluate the sort of guy he intends to become."
The orcs, Sauron's well-known army of wicked henchmen, are also back from the Peter Jackson movie, but for the first time ever, its corpus will include henchwomen. Executive producer Lindsey Weber noted, "There are some female Orcs that I absolutely adored," in an interview with IGN, where the first images of the new orcs have been made public. However, there is one very, very big and powerful Orc in particular who engages in a really exciting fight with one of our Elven characters and I anticipate will become a fan favorite.
The orcs were recuperating from their near-extinction at the close of the First Age, thus a tiny community of down-on-their-luck animals was dispersed throughout Middle-earth throughout the Second Age. Moviegoers may recall the orcs as a sizable legion of armed warriors.

And The Rings of Power is entirely inventing certain characters. Ismael Cruz Córdova will portray Arondir, a silvan elf who is having an illicit relationship with human healer Bronwyn, a single mother living in Middle-Southlands. earth's Sophia Nomvete will play a Dwarven princess named Disa. Halbrand, a human who meets Galadriel in difficult circumstances, will be portrayed by Charlie Vickers. Two more new characters that have been hinted at in recent photographs are Theo (played by Tyroe Muhafidin), a human teenager clutching what look to be the shards of Narsil, and the healer Bronwyn (played by Nazanin Boniadi), standing dramatically by a stream.s.
